Discussion about Raz Ohara And The Odd Orchestra - Raz Ohara And The Odd Orchestra
Vathennece
Raz Ohara teams up with Oliver Doerell, best known for his work on City Center Offices to form RAZ OHARA AND THE ODD ORCHESTRA, which quickly sweeps into a quiet, folktronica with "Happy Song" and the moodier shades of "Kisses." The quiet accompaniment helps emphasize Ohara's vocals, as with the emotive "Agony" or the dreamy "Where He At." The background strings of "Counting Days" offer a moody setting against which Ohara can pine away against the clicking percussion, But the sheer beauty of "Wondering" is like a blast of sunshine after a rainy day, while the instrumental "Love For Mrs. Rhodes" leaves behind its haunting traces. "Set On You" returns to a spare, near-acoustic sound, reminiscent of Ohara's solo albums, though, with the electronics, it somehow grows in stature. As does the album as a whole.
