The Killers - Battle Born download free

I've been a long term fan of The Killers since 2004, and have loved all three of the band's studio albums thus far. Whilst I do still like Battle Born, its their weakest album. The best songs on the album are terrific, but a lot of other tracks feel safe. A lot of the songs lean towards ballad/mid-tempo style too, it needs more of a balance in that regard also. The safeness is only emphasized coming straight after Day & Age which was their quirkiest album. The Way It Was left no mark on me whatsoever, ditto Heart of A Girl. The weakest track for me is Here With Me - not helped by the fact it contains one of the most embarrassing lines in Brandon Flowers lyrical career: "Don't want your picture on my cell phone, I want you here with me". Seriously Brandon? That's the only lyrical mishap on the album though. Having said that, I don't think Brandon Flowers has ever sounded better than on this record. Be Still is his finest vocal performance in my opinion. If all the tracks on the album were up to the standards of the best on offer here, Battle Born could be a contender for their best album. Having Prize Fighter and Carry Me Home as songs on the main album would have been a good start. Sadly though its lacking that variety. Maybe they wanted a safer album to bed them back into the business after their lengthy hiatus. I think though they need to freshen their sound for the fifth album. Day & Age showed that they can push themselves into new territories with surprisingly strong results (like I Can't Stay). In doing so they created arguably their finest album. In any case, Battle Born lacks the quirk that every other Killers album has, and for that reason I have to say its their weakest so far. After being away for so long, I was expecting a punchier record. Runaways set up what could have been a brilliant comeback record, but a lot of the songs on the album fail to have the same punch. Not a disaster, but not as good as I was expecting either.
